Boatyard Management to be featured at Marina Recreation Association Annual Conference and Trade Show
In response to interest from its members and from the industry, the Marina Recreation Association (MRA) announced it has added a slate of three conference events on boatyard-related seminar events to its upcoming annual conference.  The conference is scheduled to begin November 3, 2009 in Lake Tahoe, California.

Topics include Boatyard Equipment and Safety, Environmental Considerations and Practices, and a round table on Managing Relationships between Marinas and Boatyards.  The new seminars will be of interest to not only boatyard operators and employees, but also to marina operators who work with boatyards and want to know more about the field.

The MRA conference is the premier networking and educational event for the marina industry on the West Coast.  This year's conference has been themed "Cruising into a Leaner, Greener Tomorrow."  The theme was chosen to highlight the marina industry's role in reducing energy consumption and protecting the natural environment of our harbors, rivers and coasts.  Conference attendees will also be sharing ideas for streamlining operations to cope with challenging economic times.

"The conference is a great opportunity to meet your fellow marina operators and share ideas and experiences," said Yvonne Cantrell of Houseboats.com and an MRA board member.  "The annual conference is our showcase event," continued Cantrell.  "This year's Lake Tahoe symposium is going to be one of our best ever.  We will have many very accomplished speakers on a wide range of topics of interest to our members.  It's a great way to get acquainted with the MRA if you're not already a member or have never been to one of our conferences before."

The Lake Tahoe annual conference is the 38th for the MRA.  The conference attracts marina operators and related businesses from the West Coast and its inland recreational waters.  The MRA was established almost four decades ago to provide a forum for best practices and to provide an association for marina operators and those companies in related businesses.

The MRA has united the industry and provided representation and advocacy in the halls of government and with other constituencies to protect its interests and the interests of the boating public.  For more information the November conference in Lake Tahoe, call Mariann Timms at 209 334-0661 or go to www.marina.org.
