Pat Bagan Pat is currently the Vice President/General Manager of Sierra Boat Co. on Lake Tahoe. He has been with Sierra Boat Co. since 1965, working his way up through Sierra Boat Co in all aspects of the Marina business, from mechanic to wood restoration. In 1988 he became Vice President of Operations overseeing the entire Marina operation. He is responsible for all aspects of the daily operations at Sierra Boat including the care, custody and control of over 1200 vessels, 500 of which are classic wood boats. Pat manages the largest wooden boat restoration facility in Northern California. His responsibilities include supervision of 26-40 employees including foremen, storage, gas dock, administrative office and chandlery personnel. He has designed and overseen all restoration projects of the marina including dredging, slip replacement, harbor enclosures, building remodels and bringing the Marina up to current environmental standards. Joanie Seaton Joanie Seaton has been a member of MRA since 1996 and has served on the MRA Board for the last seven years and on the Executive Board since 2008. Her position as Manager of Peter's Landing Marina in Huntington Beach, CA (working alongside her husband, Scott) is a natural melding of her prior experiences in other industries, including being at the forefront of the burgeoning Pay-TV Industry from the early 70's, where she garnered solid experience in business management and marketing, with her love of the outdoors. Kathy OBrien Kathy OBrien is general manager for Sun Harbor Marina, a LEED certified property with a restaurant, offices, lockers and 100 slips in Point Loma, California. She has worked in the marina industry since 2005. She earned the title "LEED Accredited Professional" from the US Green Building Council. OBrien has been on the Board of the Marina Recreation Association since 2008. She is Treasurer and Secretary of Clean Marinas California. She is Past-President of San Diego Dockmasters. Prior to joining the marine industry, OBrien practiced as an electrical engineer with a transition to Sales and Marketing. She obtained her BSEE degree from San Jose State University. Jim Hayes Jim has been with Almar since 1998. Prior to Almar he spent more than 15 years in the hotel/resort business working for companies like Westin and Le Meridian Hotels. Have owned and operated two marinas/resorts in California for the past 30 years. The first was Camp Richardson Resort and Marina in South Lake Tahoe and currently Lake Sonoma Resort in Sonoma County. Recently was given the opportunity to develop a new marina facility at Lake Mendocino by the Army Corps of Engineers. Chris Lauritzen Chris Lauritzen III has been a partner and the harbor master of Lauritzen Yacht Harbor in Oakley California since 1976 where he is happy to say he's worked alongside his grandfather, father and sister in operating the harbor the past thirty-two years. Chris operated towboats for fifteen years, working on his father's towboats pushing barges and towing dredges through out the Delta and the Bay. He holds a U. S. Coast Guard License as the Master of Towing Vessels upon Inland waters as well as a 50 ton near Costal endorsement. Chris has been a reserve deputy sheriff for Contra Costa County for twenty-four years working in the Marine Patrol Unit in the Delta and the Bay. Chris has completed a 40-hour course at the oil spill school at Texas A & M in Galveston Texas. Jim Behun
Jim Behun is the General Manager of Sunroad Resort Marina on Harbor Island in San Diego. For the past three years, Jim has also taken on the position of Producer/Event Director of the very successful San Diego Boat Show. Jim has a wealth of experience in the Southern California marine and boating industry, with over 25 years working on the water. He is an active member of the San Diego Port Tenants Association, the Dockmasters Association and a licensed captain. As a graduate of the University of Maryland, Jim initially held positions earlier in his career in sales and marketing for esteemed companies such as Everest Management Inc. and DMG World Media, working as both National Sales Manager and National Sponsorship Sales Manager respectively. Yvonne Cantrell is Vice President and Controller for Water Resorts Inc., a marina management company located in Lodi, California. She has worked in the marina industry since 1979. She was Regional Manager of Tower Park Marina in Lodi from 1992 through 1996. Cantrell has been a director on the Board of the Marina Recreation Association since 1992, serving as Treasurer and President during her tenure. She is Past-President of California Delta Chambers and Visitors Bureau. She obtained her MBA from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1998, and her BSBA from California State University, Stanislaus. She is a Certified Management Accountant. Shelley began her career in the marina industry in 2005. She has been the marina manager at the Bay Club Hotel and Marina since her inception and has managed to increase marina revenues by 20% without a change in tenancy. She has also been very actively involved in the marina industry regarding regulatory, legislative, and environmental aspects. She was elected by her peers as the President of the San Diego Dockmaster's Group, is on the Board of Directors for the Marina Recreation Association, is a member of The San Diego Port Tenants Association's Environmental Advisory Committee, the SDPTA's Marina Recreation Group, and the TMDL stakeholders group. In 2010, Shelley spearheaded a complete dock replacement for the marina, acting as the project manager and single-handedly procured the permits through five different government agencies. She received local, state, and international attention in Marina World magazine for having the first environmentally friendly "green" state-of-the-art docks on the West Coast. Today, Shelley focuses on making her marina the most desirable marina in San Diego by creating a strong sense of community and offering superb customer service. Her ability to accomplish this for her marina has allowed her to be one of the only San Diego marinas with a wait list for her entire tenure. Michael has over two decades of experience managing the operations of multiple marinas and resorts on California's lakes. Mark Sandoval is the Manager of Marinas and Beaches for the City of Long Beach. He is a Certified Public Accountant, and this financial background was a key ingredient in obtaining this position in 1995, when the City was seeking a manager to create a business strategic plan for the City's marina enterprise. He manages the City's three marinas (the Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina and Rainbow Marina), comprising about 3.500 slips, the City's Rainbow Harbor, with about 2,100 lineal feet of commercial dockage, the City's non-marina waterfront, which includes six launch ramps, trailered-vessel storage, rental racks for human-powered craft and small vessels, and his staff oversees about 1,400 private slips in the City. Josh Burnam
Dr. Joshua Burnam is a Partner and Principal Environmental Planner at Anchor QEA, where he specializes in all aspects of planning, permitting and construction management of waterfront projects, including dredging and marina projects on the West Coast. Dr. Burnam has worked on dredging and marina renovation at numerous Port, harbor and marina projects. Prior to joining Anchor QEA, Dr. Burnam functioned as a Senior Regulatory Project Manager and regional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for dredging for the United States Army, Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program. Dr. Burnam was the Los Angeles District Regulatory Dredging Coordinator; Chairman of the Dredging Operations Subcommittee of the Los Angeles Contaminated Sediments Task Force; a member of the Corps/EPA National Dredge Team; Corps of Engineers Representative on the California Statewide LNG Interagency Task-force, and a Senior Regulatory permit manager in Los Angeles County. As Manager of Project Development for Bellingham Marine's Southwest Division, Mr. Noegel is responsible for project support throughout Southern California and Western Mexico. His responsibilities include feasibility analysis, market development, marina assessment, lead sales, contract development, engineering management, and project coordination. Mr. Noegel is the lead contact for Bellingham Marine's Southwest Division, where his extensive knowledge of engineering practices and customer service strengthens BMI's ability to provide technical assistance to meet each client's needs. He consults with customers to develop plans, evaluates site-specific design criteria, recommends innovative methods, and provides expertise on local market conditions. Mr. Noegel is also an expert on the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and assists in designing marina access systems to meet these standards. Mr. Noegel is a member of the San Diego Port Tenants Association, California Association of Harbor Masters and Port Captains, and is a board member of the Marina Recreation Association.
