Northern California Lakes ARE OPEN for Business!

Ten Northern California houseboat rental marinas launched a website and advertising campaign in 2014 to stimulate houseboat rentals.

The campaign highlights all the fun experiences of houseboating with friends and families. The campaign includes two 30-second TV & YouTube video spots to direct vacationers to its web site, GoHouseboating.com. The interactive web site touts the features of this fun-filled vacation opportunity and makes it easy for users to plan a houseboat vacation.

“Best vacation ever” is how most people describe their houseboat experience, said Lori Porter, Principal of Porter Communications, the ad agency, who along with the Marina Recreation Association, helped the marina consortium bring the campaign to life. “The campaign entitled, ‘Explore a New Destination,’ captures the experience of being on the water and the emotions that build great vacation memories,” Porter added. The ad campaign won several awards in 2015 from the Sacramento Ad Club (known as ADDY awards).

The collaborative effort of the marina consortium was a first in more than sixty years of houseboat rentals and couldn’t have come at a better time. While the drought and water conservation dominate today’s headlines in California, there remains hundreds of feet of water in area lakes to recreate and hundreds of miles of shoreline to explore from the water. Participating lakes include Shasta, Bullards Bar, Don Pedro, Oroville, Berryessa & Trinity.

MRA’s Nautical News Publication Takes on A New Look!
We have made some changes that make advertising in the MRA Newsletter a better business decision than ever before. You should be aware by now that we have converted our quarterly newsletter into a streamlined monthly E-Newsletter. Our new publication schedule will give you more frequency, exposure and top-of-mind awareness than in the past.

Of the twelve planned newsletters per year, eleven will be on the Web and a “year in review” magazine will be printed and distributed by mail. The web-based newsletters are slated to be as follows: eight of them will be regular monthly newsletters with one or two “hot topics” for the month; three will be “full-feature” newsletters to include special articles on legal, legislative, human resources and marketing topics written by industry experts in their fields.

Linked here is the 2016 E-Newsletter Advertising Contract and the 2016 advertising rates.. Please look these over and select the choices best for you to get maximum advertising. Then fill out the Contract and mail or fax it back as soon as possible so that we can include your advertisement in the upcoming E-Newsletter, as well as the ten other subsequent issues. A second Advertising Contract with the advertising rates for the printed “Year in Review” issue will be mailed to you closer to the time of printing in June.
